Lowndes Associated Ministries to People, Inc. is hosting its homeless for a night event on Friday, November 10th at 6pm to Saturday, November 11th at 6 am at various sites. Churches, businesses, schools and organizations are invited to host a lock-in at their site with a goal of teams raising $100 per team. The purpose of Homeless for A Night is to provide members of the community with a real life experience of being homeless for one night. This event is also in recognition of National Homeless Awareness week which nationally is recognized the week prior to Thanksgiving.
Sponsorship opportunities are available. To host a site and teams please contact 229-245-7157 or Sharah Denton at [email protected] or NiaKia Fontes at [email protected]. For the month of November, LAMP will also host other events to bring awareness to homelessness in the community. This year alone LAMP, Inc.'s homeless shelter, New Horizons has served over 86 homeless children from the community and surrounding counties. LAMP is committed to providing a hand up, not a hand out to single men, single women and families with children in its nine service areas in South Georgia and beyond.
