The Citizens Fire Academy is designed to give a behind-the-scenes look into one of the top ISO-rated fire departments in the state. For information, call 229-333-1835 or visit www.valdostacity.com/fire.

Sept. 28-29 | VFD Conducts Live Burn Training
The Valdosta Fire Department will conduct a controlled house burn on Thursday, Sept. 28 and Friday, Sept. 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, at 119 Jackson Street, located at the intersection of Tucker Road and Jackson Street. The controlled burn allows the VFD to train its less experienced firefighters on safe firefighting methods, as well as provide refresher training for the more-experienced firefighters. The VFD utilizes condemned city properties for these types of controlled burns—properties that, as in this case, have already been properly permitted through EPD for the removal.
