Staff Report From Valdosta CEO

Friday, September 8th, 2017

The Chamber Ambassadors held a ribbon cutting ceremony in honor of Veterans First Light.

Co-founders of Veterans First Light, Bryan Roy, a pastor at CrossPointe Church in Valdosta, and Reg McCutcheon recognized the need for veteran advocacy in the community. “We have lived in Lowndes County for 10 years and it only made sense to begin a movement here first and help our community,” said Roy.

Veterans First Light’s mission is to offer support services, advocacy, and empowerment opportunities for Veterans within the community. They offer a variety of support programs such as group therapy, job training, moral injury services, and benefits coaching.

The goal of Veterans First Light is to engage with veterans in the community on multiple levels. They recognize the individual needs that each veteran has and serves as a single point of contact for facilitating interaction and relationships.

Veterans First Light was incorporated as a Georgia Non-Profit on May 20, 2017 and is the only option for services that are specifically tailored for veterans that isn’t considered a government agency.
