Staff Report From Valdosta CEO

Members of the Valdosta Rotary clubs joined together to support Teacher’s Harvest, a program sponsored by Second Harvest of South Georgia. The program provides school supplies free of charge to public school teachers in a 30-county service region supported by Second Harvest of South Georgia.
Teachers in 218 public schools located throughout South Georgia will benefit from the collection of school supplies this year. The supplies are housed at the Second Harvest of South Georgia facility, and teachers are invited to come and “shop” for free from the stock on hand. The teachers then distribute the items to children who are in need in their classrooms.
“We are making a difference in South Georgia by putting the right school supplies in the hands of teachers and students, giving them both the confidence and tools to thrive and succeed,” said Hannah Peverill, director of Teacher’s Harvest. “We understand that the only way to break the cycle of poverty is to educate our children.”
