June 13 | CVDA Meets
The Central Valdosta Development Authority Board will meet on Tuesday, June 13, at 5 p.m., at the City Hall Annex Multi-Purpose Room, located at 300 N. Lee Street. See city calendar.  

June 14 | Flag Day
Valdosta, raise the American flag and fly it proudly on Flag Day, June 14. President Woodrow Wilson recommended this day of national commemoration by presidential proclamation in 1916, and it was officially enacted into law in 1949. For proper ways to display the flag, visit the Mayor’s Veterans Commemorative Partner Program page on the city’s website.

June 14 | Airport Authority Meets  
The Valdosta-Lowndes County Airport Authority will meet on Wednesday, June 14, at 8 a.m., at the Airport Conference Room, located at 1750 Airport Road. See city calendar.  

June 14 | City Hosts Budget Hearing
The City of Valdosta will hold the first of three budget hearings for its Fiscal Year 2018 budget on Wednesday, June 14, beginning at 3 p.m. Citizens are invited to attend the public meeting, which will take place in the second floor Council Chambers of City Hall, at 216 E. Central Avenue.

June 15 | Public Art Advisory Committee Meets
The Public Art Advisory Committee will meet on Thursday, June 15, at 11:30 a.m., at the Turner Center for the Arts, located at 527 N. Patterson Street. See city calendar.  

June 15 | City Hosts Second Budget Hearing
The City of Valdosta will hold the second of three budget hearings for its Fiscal Year 2018 budget on Thursday, June 15, beginning at 3 p.m. Citizens are invited to attend the public meeting, which will take place in the Valdosta City Hall second-floor Council Chambers.The third and final public hearing will take place on Thursday, June 22, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

June 15 | “Steps to Small Business Marketing Success”
The partnership of the City of Valdosta, Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce and the SBDC will host “Steps to Small Business Marketing Success” on June 15, from 5:30-8:30 p.m., at the Mildred Hunter Community Center, located at 509 S. Fry Street. The SEEDS for Success workshop is specifically for those interested in turning their business ideas into a reality. Attendance is free, but registration is required. www.valdostachamber.com.

June 15 | Graduation of VPD Citizens Police Academy
Twenty-two local residents will graduate from the Citizens Police Academy on June 15, at 6:30 p.m. Graduates have completed 10 weeks of learning about the internal workings of the modern day law enforcement agency. June 16 | Valdosta Housing Authority Meets
The Valdosta Housing Authority will meet on Friday, June 16, at 12 p.m., at the Valdosta Housing Authority Office, located at 610 E. Ann Street. See city calendar.  

June 17 | National Garbage Man Day
The City of Valdosta expresses its appreciation to its trash collectors, dumpster haulers, sewage workers, street cleaners and all the “unsung heroes” who are dedicated to keeping our environment clean year-round. Citizens may show their appreciation for these workers throughout this week in various creative ways. June 18 | SHOP LOCAL for Fathers’ Day
According to the U.S. Census, there are over 72 million Dads in America.  Although nationally there are also over 6,998 men’s clothing stores, 15,380 hardware stores, and 21,890 sporting goods stores, Valdosta has all you need right here for your Father’s Day shopping and dining pleasure.
