VSU Enactus Hosts Spring Classic Golf Tournament April 28th

Staff Report From Valdosta CEO

Monday, April 24th, 2017

All golfers are invited to participate in the annual Valdosta State University Enactus Spring Classic Golf Tournament on Friday, April 28, at the Valdosta Country Club.

Registration starts at 8 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 9 a.m.

Registration for a team of four is $400 and includes golf cart, greens fees, lunch, and player gift. Prizes will be awarded for the first, second, and third place teams, as well as the biggest loser.

Sponsorship opportunities are available from a low of $100 to a high of $2,500.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit VSU Enactus. The student organization connects student, academic, and business leaders through entrepreneurial-based projects that empower people to transform opportunities into real, sustainable progress for themselves and their communities.

VSU Enactus will represent VSU and the Valdosta-Lowndes County community at the 2017 Enactus United States National Exposition in May. The group will share the results of four ongoing projects — Kultured Kampus, Ora Lee West Homes and Hudson Dockett Homes, Boys and Girls Club, and the Greenhouse Project — with the nation.

Through Kultured Kampus, VSU Enactus works with three tailors in the Republic of The Gambia and makes the goods they create available for purchase through an online boutique. Proceeds provide job and education opportunities for Gambian people. At the Boys and Girls Club of Valdosta, Ora Lee West Homes, and Hudson Homes, the VSU students work with community youth to teach them the principles of innovation, competition, and entrepreneurship. Through the Greenhouse Project, VSU Enactus is helping residents of Lowndes Associate Ministries to People Inc., a nonprofit that serves homeless men, women, and children, how to design and construct a greenhouse out of recycled plastic bottles and how to grow their own food.

Teams who wish to register in advance should contact Ashley Braswell, director of development at the Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration, at [email protected] or Jeff Shipley, faculty advisor for VSU Enactus, at [email protected] by Tuesday, April 25.
