The Club of the Year Award is based on the club's local and international service, leadership and community presence and the Valdosta Rotary Club won in the category of large clubs, according to a Rotary press release. 

The Valdosta Rotary Club is approaching 100 years of service in the Valdosta community. Currently its 93 members are comprised of educators, clergy and law-enforcement personnel, as well as other health-care, business, civic and community leaders. 

Worldwide, Rotary has 1.2 million members.
