Habitat for Humanity Receives Grant for New Project

Staff Report From Valdosta CEO

Wednesday, April 26th, 2017

Habitat for Humanity received a grant to work with the residents of the community to do a project of their choice.  After many meetings, the residents chose to clean up Tom Park and put in a new "EduScape".  We added a World Map, Georgia Map, Hopscotch, and Grid to play games on.  On Saturday April 22 in conjunction with Bulk Trash Amnesty and Earth Day, we cleaned the park and then had a cook out and invited all of the local residents to enjoy the  cook out. The project was a huge success and brought attention to the area by cleaning up Tom Park.  We partnered with the City of Valdosta, VLPRA, Valdosta City School Systems, V&R Construction, KLVB, Living Bridges Ministries, Wiregrass, and Reames Concrete.  Colson Business Solutions provided the grill and Sunset Farm Foods provided the sausages.  This project has been months in the making and some great activities for the kids in the neighborhood were added to the park!
