March 13-18 | Georgia Small Business Week!
Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed a proclamation for Georgia Small Business Week, March 13-17, to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of small business throughout the state. There are 650,000 business establishments across the state of Georgia. More than 5,000 businesses are located in the City of Valdosta, and approximately 75 percent are small businesses. During Georgia Small Business Week, the city extends its appreciation to small businesses for their contributions to our local economy and for the overall quality of life they provide for our residents and guests. March 14-17 | Sustella Avenue Closed for Road Repairs
The City of Valdosta Engineering Department has scheduled a road repair on Sustella Avenue, on Tuesday, March 14, at 7 a.m., that is expected to take until Friday, March 17 to complete. Read more.
March 14 | Mayor’s Council for Persons with Disabilities Meets
The Valdosta Mayor’s Council for Persons with Disabilities will meet on Tuesday, March 14, at 1 p.m., at Goodwill Industries, located at 1000 N. St. Augustine Road. The meeting is open to individuals who have an interest in making Valdosta a “City Without Limits” for community members with disabilities. For more information, call 229-245-2498.

The Central Valdosta Development Authority Board will meet on Tuesday, March 14, at 5 p.m., at the City Hall Annex Multi-Purpose Room, located at 300 N. Lee Street. See city calendar.
March 15 | Hospital Authority Meets
The Hospital Authority of Valdosta and Lowndes County meeting will meet on Wednesday, March 15, at 8 a.m., at South Georgia Medical Center, Executive Board Room, located at 2501 N. Patterson Street. See city calendar.
March 15 | Land Bank Authority Meets
The Valdosta-Lowndes County Land Bank Authority will meet for their regularly-scheduled meeting on Wednesday, March 15, at 9 a.m., in the Valdosta City Hall Annex Multi-Purpose Room. The purpose of the Valdosta-Lowndes County Land Bank Authority is to foster the public purpose of returning property which is in a non-revenue generating, non-tax producing status to effective utilization status in order to provide housing, new industry and jobs for citizens. The City of Valdosta’s Neighborhood Development Division and Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers, Inc. is expanding community access to job training and connection services through a series of workshops. The next career development workshop titled, “Interview Time” takes place Wednesday, March 15, at 11 a.m., at the City Hall Annex, second floor of the Engineering Conference Room, located at 300 N. March 17 | Deadline to enter 8th Annual Valdosta Government 101 Citizens Orientation
March 17 is the deadline for Valdostans and other local community members who want an inside look at how their city government runs to sign up for the annual Valdosta Government 101 Citizens Orientation, which takes place from April 3- May 15, 2017. This program, an initiative of the Valdosta Mayor and City Council, also includes the participation of up to five high school seniors who have a parent or legal guardian also enrolled in the program. Applications are being accepted by the City of Valdosta through March 17. Download application for more information.
