SGMC Mammography Patients Feel the Love on Valentine's

Staff Report From Valdosta CEO

Wednesday, February 15th, 2017

This Valentine’s Day, SGMC receptionist Darleen Hendley wanted to make sure all mammography patients at the SGMC Women’s Imaging Center felt loved. To do this, Hendley gathered dozens of pink and red carnations and attached hand written love notes to each one.

Hendley then presented a carnation to patients who entered the door on Valentine’s Day. This kind gesture brought joy to all who received a carnation, especially Gertrude J. Anderson. Anderson lost her husband last December, after 52 years, 11 months, and 15 days of marriage. The gesture touched Anderson so much that she vowed to take the carnation and place it on her husband’s grave.

After hearing Anderson’s story, Hendley said, “This is why I did this. I like making people feel happy. I want them to see that SGMC cares for our patients.”
