The Berrien County Development Authority has been awarded a OneGeorgia Equity Grant to assist with capacity building efforts at the Berrien County Business Park.  The $499,744 in grant funds will be used to assist with the installation of infrastructure to include a road, water and sewer services for the first phase of development for the park.  The Berrien County Development Authority acquired the property for the Berrien County Business Park in May 2016 through a property trade.  The park is located on Highway 168 just outside the Nashville City Limits. 

“The development of this new industrial park is a joint effort between the Development Authority, the County and City of Nashville,” said Col. Nick Lacey, Chairman, Berrien County Development Authority.  “In order for Berrien County to be competitive at recruiting new industry into our community, we must have a developed industrial park with the essential infrastructure demanded by industry.”

The OneGeorgia Equity Fund, which is managed by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, assists communities and regions in building the necessary infrastructure to support economic development. 

“The Development Authority utilized the grant writing services of the Southern Georgia Regional Commission to assist with the grant application,” said Crissy Staley, executive director, Berrien County Development Authority.  “We appreciate their partnership and hard work on this project which helped secure the funding needed to develop our new industrial park.”

Currently work is underway to stump and clear the Berrien County Business Park with construction of the infrastructure to follow.
