Dec. 14 | Goodwill on the Go!
The City of Valdosta's Neighborhood Development Division and Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers, Inc. is expanding community access to job training and connections services through a series of workshops. The next career development workshop titled, “Simple Business Etiquette” takes place Wednesday, Dec. 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Valdosta City Hall Multi-Purpose Room. Read more.
 
Dec. 15 | City Hosts Ribbon Cutting on S. Troup Street
The community is invited to a ribbon cutting of the S. Troup Street Enhancement Project, on Thursday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m., on the Coastal Plains property located at 900 S. Troup Street. The completed project, funded by SPLOST VII, runs from Griffin Avenue to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and includes the construction of new sidewalks on the eastside of the street, crosswalks, new street signage, curb and gutter, bicycle lanes, underground storm sewer and drainage inlets, new driveway aprons, and new water & sewer service connections. Dec. 15 | Missed the Parade?
Citizens who missed the Greater Valdosta Community Christmas Parade on Dec. 3 can view the re-airing of this wonderful community event, beginning today, twice daily—at 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.—on Metro Channel 17 (on Mediacom) and throughout the remainder of December. Thanks to all who participated and made it another successful event.
 
Dec. 15 | Girls Night Out
Gather your girlfriends, and join Main Street downtown for a night of shopping, refreshments and fun, from 5-8 p.m. Stores will have extended hours to help you find the perfect gifts for everyone on your list. Call Main Street for details at 229-259-3577.
 
Dec. 16 | VFD Give A Kid A Bike Program
What do you do with new bicycles that are unable to be used in their current condition due to a missing or malfunctioning part? Valdosta firefighters are finding the missing parts to fix the bicycles, which will then be distributed to children in need, with assistance from the local Division of Family and Children Services program, at an event at the VFD Station #1, on Dec. 16, from 12-5 p.m. The program is designed to benefit children who are survivors of local fire incidents and to help them have a happy holiday. Dec. 17 | Mayor Participates in the 24th Annual Outback Riders Toy Ride
The Mayor will be making a special appearance at the Annual Toy Ride hosted by Outback Riders. This year’s ride will take place on Saturday, Dec. 17, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Lake Park Outlets and end at Big Lots on Ashley Street in Valdosta. Citizens are asked to donate toys at the event, which will be distributed by the Salvation Army to underprivileged children in our community. View event flier.
