Staff Report From Valdosta CEO

The Chamber hosted a reception on Wednesday evening for students from Valdosta State University’s Mass Media program, who recently completed a semester long video production project with the Chamber.

As a part of their fall curriculum, the students produced twenty videos featuring member testimonials about their business relationship with the Chamber. The students will be graded on the production value and artistic content of the two minute videos.

Jason Brown, Assistant Professor of Mass Media, developed and implemented the program for his fall students. “We have appreciated having the Business Community visit our students on campus and then allow our students to join the business community in their workplaces,” said Brown. “Allowing the community to see what our students are capable of has been as valuable as letting our students see the wide variety of opportunities that exist in the Valdosta-Lowndes area. This collaboration could not have been possible without the Chamber of Commerce.”

The students had an opportunity to showcase their videos in front of an audience comprised of VSU faculty, Chamber staff and video participants. The top three teams were awarded a certificate and cash prizes for their work.
