Nov. 8 | Voting Day is Today
On Tuesday, residents can vote in the General Election at their assigned polling locations, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Visit the My Voter Page, at www.mvp.sos.ga.gov, hosted by the Georgia Secretary of State, to learn where your specific precinct is located or contact the Board of Elections at 229-671-2850.
Nov. 8 | Mayor’s Council for Persons with Disabilities Meets
The Valdosta Mayor’s Council for Persons with Disabilities will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m., at Goodwill Industries. The meeting is open to individuals who have an interest in making Valdosta a “City Without Limits” for community members with disabilities. For more information, call 229-539-3011.
Nov. 8 | Valdosta City Council Meets for Work Session
The Mayor and City Council meet for a work session on Tuesday, beginning at 5:30 p.m., which allows council members to spend an adequate amount of time discussing agenda items. The meeting is open to the general public and is held in the second floor Council Chambers of City Hall, at 216 E. Central Avenue.

Nov. 10 | Week #9 of the VPD Citizens Police Academy
The Citizens Police Academy will meet for week #9 on Nov. 10, where participants will get the chance to learn about the VPD Gang Unit, the Community Policing Program and Neighborhood Watch. The goal of the CPA is to give citizens a better understanding of the internal workings of a modern day law enforcement agency and, at the same time, promote a team concept between the VPD and the citizens they serve. Nov. 11 | Veterans’ Day
Friday, Nov. 11 is Veterans’ Day, and the City of Valdosta is open for regular hours of business. However, the city encourages all citizens to attend the community Veterans’ appreciation event, at Martin Stadium at 10 a.m. Show your appreciation for the 18.8 million veterans in our country by wearing patriotic colors on Friday and by attending this community event.
Nov. 12 | City Hosts Fall Electronics Recycling Event, Nov. 12
The City of Valdosta and Keep Lowndes/Valdosta Beautiful will provide residents and businesses the opportunity to dispose of electronic devices in a safe and convenient manner at the Fall Electronics Recycling event, on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will take place in the parking lot of the Mathis City Auditorium, located at 2300 N. Nov. 12 | VFD Defends Their “Hungry at Home” Title
The Valdosta Fire Department has two teams competing in the Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks & Recreation Authority’s 4th Annual Stocked Cart Race that benefits “Hungry at Home,” on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 9 a.m., in the Hobby Lobby parking lot in Valdosta. Hungry at Home seeks specific types of food, particularly those that are high in protein and easy for children to prepare.
