Monday, October 10th, 2016

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and SGMC Foundation is encouraging residents to participate in its #Pink4Pearlman appeal. During October, donors are encouraged to honor or memorialize loved ones affected by breast cancer by giving a Gift of Tribute. Funds raised for this appeal will be designated for the benefit of patients served at the Pearlman Cancer Center at South Georgia Medical Center.

“This is a great way for your philanthropic effort to stay in our community and support local patients and programs at our cancer center,” stated Elizabeth Vickers, SGMC Foundation Executive Director. SGMC treats approximately 150 newly diagnosed patients for breast cancer annually. According to the American Cancer Society, at this time there are more than 2.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States.
