Sept. 13 | Mayor’s Council for Persons with Disabilities Meets
The Valdosta Mayor’s Council for Persons with Disabilities will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m., at Goodwill Industries. The meeting is open to individuals who have an interest in making Valdosta a “City Without Limits” for community members with disabilities. For more information, call 229-539-3011.
Sept. 13 | ZBOA Meets
The Valdosta-Lowndes County Zoning Board of Appeals will hold its monthly meeting, Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 2:30 p.m., in the City Hall Annex Multi-Purpose Room. The ZBOA hears all variance requests and appeals regarding staff interpretations of the City of Valdosta Land Development Regulations. Sept. 13 | CVDA Board Meets
The Central Valdosta Development Authority will meet Tuesday, at 5 p.m., in the Valdosta City Hall Annex Multi-Purpose Room. The CVDA manages the process of enhancing downtown's position as the governmental, cultural, and economic center of the Greater Lowndes County area by involving businesses, property owners, government, churches and the entire community. Sept. 13 | Week #3 of VFD Citizens Fire Academy
The Valdosta Fire Department Citizens Fire Academy is in week #3 for citizens who are preregistered for the nine-week program. Participants will meet at 6 p.m. to learn about the Citizen Emergency Response Team. Citizens Fire Academy is designed to give a behind-the-scenes look into one of the top ISO-rated fire departments in the state. For information, call 229-333-1835.

Sept. 15 | VPD Hosts 24th Citizens Police Academy
The 24th session of the Citizens Police Academy (CPA) kicks off Thursday, Sept. 15, at 6:30 p.m. The goal of the CPA is to give citizens a better understanding of the internal workings of a modern day law enforcement agency and, at the same time, promote a team concept between the VPD and the citizens they serve. Sept. 17 | Dumpster Art
Local artists and artist teams will be busy Saturday morning painting up the town for the city’s first Dumpster Art public art project. This project, which is a collaboration between the City of Valdosta, Valdosta Main Street and the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts, will transform the otherwise unsightly downtown dumpsters into public pieces of art, beginning at 8 a.m. in four different downtown locations. Sept. 17 | The LAST Farm Days is This Saturday
The popular Downtown Valdosta Farm Days takes place this Saturday on the sidewalks around the historic Lowndes County Courthouse, in downtown Valdosta, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This is the last scheduled Farm Days event for the 2016 season. Sept. 17 | PAAC Hosts Dedication Ceremony of Public Art at Smith Park
The Public Art Advisory Committee is inviting the public to the dedication of the public art project at Smith Park, on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 10 a.m. This public art project involved several dozen hands in the making of it and was made possible through a Georgia Council for the Arts - Vibrant Communities Grant. Individuals interested in Valdosta’s growing public art collection are encouraged to attend this event. Smith Park is located where E. Hill Avenue, E. Central Avenue and N.
