Sept. 20 | Week #4 of VFD Citizens Fire Academy
The Valdosta Fire Department Citizens Fire Academy is in week #4 for citizens who are preregistered for the nine-week program. Participants will learn about Fire Prevention. Citizens Fire Academy is designed to give a behind-the-scenes look into one of the top ISO-rated fire departments in the state. For information, call 229-333-1835.
Sept. 21 | Goodwill on the Go!
The City of Valdosta's Neighborhood Development Division and Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers, Inc. is expanding community access to job training and connections services through a series of workshops. The next career development workshop takes place Wednesday, Sept. 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Valdosta City Hall Multi-Purpose Room. Read more.
Sept. 22 | Valdosta City Council Meets
The Mayor and City Council will meet this Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers. The meeting is open to the general public and includes an Employee of the Month Award presentation and other city business. View the agenda.
Sept. 22 | Week #2 of the VPD Citizens Police Academy
The Citizens Police Academy will meet for week #2 on Sept. 22, at 6:30 p.m., to learn about the Bureau of Patrol Services, which includes the Traffic, K-9 and Power Squad divisions. The goal of the CPA is to give citizens a better understanding of the internal workings of a modern day law enforcement agency and, at the same time, promote a team concept between the VPD and the citizens they serve. Sept. 23 | CAPER Available for Public Review
Friday is the last day for residents to provide input on the City of Valdosta's 2016 FY Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report for the Community Development Block Grant program. The report, which documents information on actual accomplishments, may be reviewed on the City of Valdosta website at www.valdostacity.com or at 300 N. Lee Street, Room 204, through Sept. 23 by 5 p.m.
