On Saturday September 17, 2016, Valdosta- Lowndes County Habitat for Humanity hosted its 8^th annual Freedom Build.  This year, Habitat hosted volunteers from Moody Air Force Base to build walls for a future house.  However, the highlight of the day was installing a flag pole at the Habitat office at 2010 East Cypress Street and dedicating it to Warren Scoby.  Warren was one of the founding board members of Valdosta- Lowndes County Habitat for Humanity and continues to volunteer with the affiliate through securing donations and advocating for the families.  The success of the Jimmy Carter Work Project, hosted by Valdosta- Lowndes County Habitat for Humanity in 2003 would not have been possible without Warren.    

However, the work he does for Habitat is just a small piece of who this man is.  After retiring from the United States Air Force, Warren held a second career of 20 years with International Telephone and Telegraph.  Since then, he has served over 30 years in the leadership of Knights of Columbus, which donates to countless charities in Valdosta.  Warren is very active in St. John’s Catholic Church as a member of the parish council and helping to acquire and sell items for the St. Frances Thrift Store.   Warren is a board member for Dog T.A.G.S. and as a Purple Heart, is active in the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
