Community supporters and volunteers gathered together at Hospice of South Georgia’s Langdale Hospice House to present donations for charitable patient care on Wednesday, September 21, 2016.  Donations totaling $66,000 were received from Leadership Lowndes Class of 2016 - Group 1, Hospice of South GA Advisory Board, The Tree House Thrift Shop, and the Harley Langdale Jr. Foundation.

Hospice of South Georgia’s Advisory Board coordinated community events for a fundraising donation of $10,000.  These events included the Hospice Half & Dewey Color Dash, Imaginary Ball donation letters and a designer cooler contest.

The Harley Langdale Jr. Foundation presented $10,000 through an initiative to support local health care, entrepreneurial spirits, and enhancing our community with hospice care provided in the inpatient care center.

Participants from Leadership Lowndes – Group 1 raised $16,000 through fundraising and support efforts of a mystery dinner play coordinated by the Hospice of South Georgia Advisory Board.  They have also given time and service to Hospice of South Georgia by re-landscaping the Memorial Fountain and other focal points at the Langdale Hospice House.

Lastly, the Tree House Thrift Shop contributed $30,000 from the proceeds of sales since October 1, 2015. The Tree House is an upscale thrift store designed to support Hospice of South Georgia. The store also provides support for other community and charitable programs through the donation of unsold items.

Hospice of South Georgia is the only non-for-profit hospice in the community, and also provides the only dedicated inpatient hospice care facility.  The organization is strongly supported by the communities they serve.  Expressing gratitude and admiration for the support, Executive Director, Susan Bowden, said, “Hospice of South Georgia and Langdale Hospice House depend on the support of a caring community to continue the good work of hospice care.  We are grateful for the hard work, dedication, and generosity on behalf of those in need of our services.  We sincerely appreciate the support given to us over the years!"
