Valdosta Fire Department Uses Social Media to Update the Community
Staff Report From Valdosta CEO
Friday, August 12th, 2016
In an effort to communicate with citizens more effectively about fire services within the community, the Valdosta Fire Department has expanded the city’s use of social media venues to post breaking news, fire and life safety messages, upcoming events and preparedness information.
Through the use of these modern communication tools, the Valdosta Fire Department seeks to socially engage and network with citizens in the Valdosta/Lowndes County community. These new communication options for citizens are in addition to the many ways the City of Valdosta already engages citizens through the city’s website, mobile apps, various social media sites and our Government Access Channel 17 on Mediacom. The overlapping of traditional and modern communication venues throughout the city departments ensures that all citizens remain informed and educated about their city services.
In addition to the Fire Department’s webpage www.valdostacity.com/fire , the community can follow the Fire Department on the following social media sites:
Facebook facebook.com/ValdostaFD
LinkedIn linkedin.com/in/ValdostaFD
Twitter twitter.com/ValdostaFire
YouTube Valdosta Fire Department
“As we continue to excel as “A Department Without Limits,” the VFD’s success is dependent on providing impeccable customer service,” said Fire Chief Freddie Broome. “We welcome all feedback, suggestions or comments from the citizens we are here to serve.”:
