Wednesday, August 31st, 2016
The River will headline the Nashville South Jams Concert at Horse Creek Winery on October 22nd. The River was formed in the spring of 1994 when several South Georgia, many from Berrien County, came together for an informal jam session. The Nashville South Jams Concert will feature the original band members from The River, Todd Griffin (lead vocals), Matt Hughes (bass guitar), Patrick Best (drums), Wally Colwell (guitar) and Henry McGill (lead guitar & vocals). Nashville South Jams will also feature Blake Brown, a Valdosta based artist of the former band Little Brown Peach and Nashville, Georgia based artist Brent Browning who now headlines shows at Tooties Orchard Lounge in Nashville, Tennessee.
“The idea for Nashville South Jams was a direct result from feedback our community received during the state’s Tourism Product Development Team visit in 2015,” said Bo Lovein, Chairman, Berrien County Chamber of Commerce Board. “The idea was to capitalize on the Nashville name as well as our local musicians.”
The Nashville South Jams event is a recipient of a Tourism Product Development Grant awarded through the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Tourism Division.
“It has been more than 12 years since those of us that started the band played together,” stated Todd Griffin and Matt Hughes, The River. “While we enjoyed playing all around the region and separately in other groups, we are all really excited to bring the original group back together to play for our hometown during Nashville South Jams.”
