City of Valdosta to Host Rain Barrel Lunch & Learn August 12th
Staff Report From Valdosta CEO
Monday, August 1st, 2016
The City of Valdosta Stormwater Division will host a “Make & Take” lunch and learn on Friday, Aug. 12, from 12-1 p.m., to teach citizens how to build, install, and maintain rain barrels, which can be used to collect and store rainwater from roofs. This lunch and learn will take place in the City Hall Annex Multi-Purpose Room, located at 300 N. Lee Street.
Participants will create their own rain barrels and will learn how the rain barrels can be used to water plants in their homes and gardens, save money and reduce stormwater runoff.
Tools, materials and lunch will be provided to participants free of charge. Assistance to load and/or deliver rain barrels to citizens’ homes will also be available.
Citizens are encouraged to register early, as class size is limited. To register and reserve a rain barrel, call 229-259-3530, or email [email protected].
