Southeastern Credit Union is pleased to announce that Steve Sainz, Senior Vice President and Senior Risk Officer, recently graduated from the Southeast Credit Union National Association’s Management School. Graduation from the Southeast CUNA Management School is recognized throughout the credit union industry as a prestigious mark of achievement.
Over the course of the three-year program, Sainz received advanced academic instruction on a variety of topics including management, leadership, and financial analysis. Successful completion of the program required Mr. Sainz to apply the knowledge he gained from on-site sessions to projects that called for strategic analysis of other credit unions and research of relevant issues facing the credit union industry. Sainz participated in a group research project that involved developing a 20+ page whitepaper on Member Business Lending and giving a group presentation on the topic, sharing insights with peers.
“CUNA Management School is committed to providing the most current industry information available to its participants,” says Sainz. “I am thankful for the opportunity Southeastern Credit Union has provided me to advance my knowledge of our industry and gain new ideas and strategies that will hopefully benefit our organization.“
Sainz has been in the banking industry for more than 24 years. He began Southeastern’s Member Business Lending department in 2011, and since then has grown the member business loan portfolio to over $33 million in just five years. Southeastern has not had a thirty-day past due account on any of its member business loans since the program’s inception, a true testament to the portfolio’s high degree of credit quality.
