June 14 | Flag Day
Flag Day celebrates our nation’s flag. President Woodrow Wilson recommended this day of national commemoration by presidential proclamation in 1916, and it was officially enacted into law in 1949. June 15 | City Hosts Career Development Workshop.
“Creating your Brand,” sponsored by the City of Valdosta’s Neighborhood Development Division and Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers, Inc., will take place on Wednesday in the Valdosta City Hall Annex Multi-Purpose Room, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  This partnership expands community access to job training and connections services through a series of workshops and the new Job Connections Kiosk in the city’s Customer Service Center—making valuable job training more accessible to citizens who seek them. June 17 | National Garbage Man Day
The City of Valdosta expresses appreciation to its trash collectors, dumpster haulers, sewage workers, street cleaners and all the “unsung heroes” who are dedicated to keeping our environment clean year-round. Citizens may show their appreciation for these workers in various creative ways, take photos, and post to the city’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/ValdostaUSA with the hashtag #ValdostaGarbageManDay.
