April 27 | HPC Meets for Work Session
The Historic Preservation Commission will meet for a work session on April 27 at 3 p.m.  The meeting will be held in the City Hall Annex Multi-Purpose Room. Call 229-259-3563 for details.
 
April 27 | Application Deadline for Board Vacancies
Valdosta citizens may participate in accomplishing the business of the city by serving on a variety of boards, commissions, authorities and advisory committees. Citizens have until 5 p.m. on April 27 to submit their applications for 14 vacancies. Read more about how to be involved with the city.
 
April 28 | Citizens Police Academy Meets for Week #7
Citizens enrolled in the Valdosta Citizens Police Academy are in week #7 of a 10-week program and will be exposed to the VPD’s Gang Unit and Community Policing Program at today’s session. The academy is free and is one of three citizens information programs designed to engage and educate citizens on their local government.

April 30 | Habitat for Humanity Women Build
“Women Build” is a Habitat for Humanity initiative designed to empower women to break stereotypes and encourages women to participate in the construction of houses for hardworking, low-income families.  Since 1998, Women Build has helped to build nearly 3,000 homes for deserving families internationally!  Call Habitat at 229-245-1330, ext. 27, to volunteer for Saturday’s build.
