April 12 | VFD Hosts Career Expo, April 12
The Valdosta Fire Department has partnered with the Georgia Department of Labor to host a Public Safety Career Expo, on Tuesday, April 12, from 12-3 p.m., at Valdosta Fire Station No. 1. The event preps citizens who are interested in learning more about careers in the Public Safety field. Learn more.
April 12 | CVDA Meets
The Central Valdosta Development Authority will meet Tuesday, at 5 p.m., in the Valdosta City Hall Annex Multi-Purpose Room. The CVDA manages the process of enhancing downtown's position as the governmental, cultural, and economic center of the Greater Lowndes County area by involving businesses, property owners, government, churches and the entire community. April 14 | Fair Housing Committee Meets
The Fair Housing Committee will be at 5:30 p.m. in the Valdosta City Annex Multi-Purpose Room. The Fair Housing Committee invites and encourages citizens to attend quarterly committee meetings whenever possible because good government depends on the interest and involvement of its citizens. April 14 | Citizens Police Academy Meets for Week #5
Citizens enrolled in the Valdosta Citizens Police Academy are in week #5 of a 10-week program and will learn about and tour the Valdosta-Lowndes County Crime Laboratory. Last year, the Crime Lab became the first locally-operated crime lab ever in Georgia to obtain accreditation through the American Society of Crime laboratory Directors. The academy is free and is one of three citizens information programs designed to engage and educate citizens on their local government.
April 15 | S. Troup Street Ground Breaking
Citizens are invited to celebrate the ground breaking of the S. Troup Street improvement project, on Friday, April 15, at 10 a.m., at 900 S. Troup Street. The project, which will run from Griffin Avenue to MLK Drive, will include curb and gutter, sidewalks and bicycle lanes and will take approximately eight months to complete.
