March 21-25 | Eggs-Tra Fun in Downtown Valdosta
Valdosta Main Street puts a fun twist on the traditional Easter Egg Hunt in downtown Valdosta, Monday, March 21- Friday, March 25. One egg will be hidden downtown daily containing $50 in Downtown Dollars, which can be spent at participating merchants. Hints to the location of these eggs will be posted at 10 a.m. each day on three to four of the participating merchants’ Facebook/Instagram accounts. Citizens are encouraged to follow ALL participating merchants to get these daily hints. Discovered eggs should be taken to Elli's Boutique to exchange for the prize money. Pictures will be posted when each egg has been located. Visit the Valdosta Main Street Facebook page for a list of participating merchants.
March 24 | Valdosta Youth Council Meets
The 14-member Valdosta Youth Council will hold its regularly-scheduled meeting, on March 24, at 4 p.m. The meeting will take place in the Council Chambers of Valdosta City Hall (located at 216 E. Central Avenue) and is open to the general public. Visit and “like” the VYC Facebook page.

The Mayor and City Council will meet this Thursday, at 5:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers of Valdosta City Hall. The meeting is open to the general public. View the meeting agenda.
March 24 | Public Hearing for Annual Action Plan
The City will host a public hearing on Thursday, March 25 to invite citizens to review of its Annual Action Plan, which provides information on the usage of the Community Development Block Grant funding for FY2016. Read more.
March 24 | Six City Employees Nominated for ARC HEROES Award
Congratulations to VPD Officer Jonathan Braddy, VPD Lt. Brent Johnson, VPD DARE Officer Stephen Findlay, VFD Lt. Dwight Primrose, VFD Sgt Keith Niehanke and VFD Firefighter Darren Williams who will all be honored as HEROES nominees for the 2016 American Red Cross HEROES Award. These public safety personnel are being honored, along with other nominees from our area, at an awards banquet at the Rainwater Conference Center, beginning at 6 p.m. Call 229-242-7404 for tickets.
March 24 | VPD Citizens Police Academy in Week #2
Citizens enrolled in the Valdosta Police Academy are in week #2 of an eight-week program to get a better understanding of the Bureau of Support Services and take a tour of the 911 Center. The class is free and is one of three citizens information programs designed to engage and educate citizens on their local government.
March 25 | Valdosta Sanitation Schedule for Good Friday
The City of Valdosta will be closed on Friday, March 25, in observance of the Good Friday holiday. The Sanitation Division will collect residential garbage only on Good Friday. Citizens should place their green rollouts at the curbside by 5 a.m. on Friday, March 25, to ensure their garbage is collected. Recyclables, yard waste and special pickups for Friday and Monday routes will be collected on Monday, March 28. Call the Public Works Department at 229-259-3590 for more information.
