Staff Report From Valdosta CEO

Friday, February 12th, 2016

With the recent addition of new programs and program expansions in the Allied Health department, Wiregrass Georgia Technical College is seeking additional clinical sites.  “This is a great problem to have,” shared DeAnnia Clements, Dean for Academic Affairs – Allied Health. “Wiregrass’ Allied Health programs are growing with the addition of our Associate of Science in Nursing program we added a couple years ago, and recently, our Medical Assisting Degree.  As we continue to grow, we need to add more clinical spots to what we currently have.”  There is no cost to the clinical site and it ensures that potential employees are getting the hands on knowledge employers are looking for.

Wiregrass is accepting applications for new clinical sites for Phlebotomy, Health Information Technology, and Medical Assisting.  “With new students and returning students coming in for our new Medical Assisting Degree we need to secure more clinical sites for them as well as some of our other programs,” shared April Lamon Director of Clinical Affiliations for Wiregrass. If your practice would be interested in hosting Wiregrass students for clinicals and/or internships, please contact April Lamon, at 229-293-6261 or by email at [email protected] .
