Valdosta Oral Surgeon John Roan, DDS has been appointed to serve a five-year term on the Hospital Authority of Valdosta & Lowndes County, Georgia.

The announcement was made at the meeting of the Lowndes County Commissioners on Tuesday, January 26.  Dr. Roan will assume the board position formerly held by retired South Health District 8-1 Director Dr. Lynne Feldman. Dr. Roan will begin attending meetings upon completing his orientation to the Hospital Authority.

Professionally, Dr. Roan is a practicing oral surgeon.  He received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees from Emory University, Atlanta, GA.  He is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.  Dr. Roan is well-respected in the local community.  He has been an Active Member of the SGMC Medical Staff since 1981. He previously served in various Medical Staff leadership roles including Chief of the Medical Staff, Chief of Oral & Maxillofacial Service and Chairman of the Medical Staff By-laws Committee.
