Jan. 12: Mayor's Council for Persons with Disabilities Meets. The Valdosta Mayor's Council for Persons with Disabilities will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at 1 p.m., at Goodwill Industries. The meeting is open to individuals who have an interest in making Valdosta a "City Without Limits" for community members with disabilities. Jan. 12: CVDA Board Meets. The Central Valdosta Development Authority will meet Tuesday, at 5 p.m., in the Valdosta City Hall Annex Multi-Purpose Room. The CVDA manages the process of enhancing downtown's position as the governmental, cultural, and economic center of the Greater Lowndes County area by involving businesses, property owners, government, churches and the entire community. Jan. 18: Valdosta Announces MLK, Jr. Day Sanitation Schedule. The City of Valdosta will be closed on Monday, Jan. 18 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The Sanitation Division will collect residential and commercial garbage only on Monday, Jan. 18. Citizens who normally have their sanitation collected on Mondays should place their recyclables, special pickups and yard waste at the curbside by 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19 for both Monday and Tuesday pickups.
