Nov. 18: Land Bank Meets. The Land Bank Authority will meet Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 9 a.m., in the Valdosta City Hall Annex Multi-Purpose Room. The purpose of the Valdosta-Lowndes County Land Bank Authority is to foster the public purpose of returning property which is in a non-revenue generating, non-tax producing status to effective utilization status in order to provide housing, new industry and jobs for citizens. Nov. 19: Valdosta Youth Council Meets. Mayor John Gayle will meet with the 16-member Valdosta Youth Council at their regularly-scheduled meeting, on Nov. 19, at 4 p.m. The meeting, which will feature the swearing in of officers and a guest presentation by Municipal Court Judge Vernita Bender, will take place in the Council Chambers of Valdosta City Hall (located at 216 E. Nov. 21: VSU Advances to First Round of NCAA Football National Championship. The Valdosta State University Blazers jumped from the region's seventh seed to the fourth seed following Saturday's win over Florida Tech and will play in the NCAA Football National Championship first round game this Saturday, Nov. 21, at 12 p.m., against the fifth-seeded Carson Newman.
