Nov. 10: Main Street Hosts Annual Downtown Blazin' Throwdown. On Tuesday, Nov.10, Main Street will host its Third Annual Blazin' Downtown Throwdown, around the Historic Courthouse Square, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event will include the VSU band, cheerleaders, Red Hots, members of the football team, Blaze, a "People's Choice" award for the downtown window decorating contest event, and specials in many of the stores and restaurants. Nov. 11. Veterans' Day. Wednesday is Veterans' Day, and the City of Valdosta is open for regular hours of business. However, the city encourages all citizens to attend the community Veterans' appreciation event, at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium, beginning at 10 a.m. Following the ceremony, citizens are also encouraged to attend the dedication ceremony of several trees that were planted last Saturday at the Pay It Forward event that took place as the American Legion Post 13. Show your appreciation for Veterans in our community by wearing patriotic colors on Wednesday and by attending these special events.

Nov. 14 Valdosta Neighborhood Development Hosts Town Hall Meeting. The City of Valdosta's Neighborhood Development Division will host a District 1 Town Hall Meeting to discuss housing development needs, on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 12-2 p.m., at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, located at 505 E. Nov. 14: Fall Electronics Recycling Event. Get your unwanted electronics out of your home or business, and recycle them in the environmentally friendly way at the city's Fall Electronics Recycling event, on Saturday, Nov. 14.
