Southeastern CU Donates Thanksgiving Meals to Families in Need
Staff Report From Valdosta CEO
Monday, November 30th, 2015
For the sixth year in a row, Southeastern Credit Union and its employees have donated Thanksgiving meals to ten local disadvantaged families. The Credit Union purchased fully-cooked smoked turkeys and employees generously donated side dishes, desserts, and bread so that families in need could have a traditional Thanksgiving meal. The ten families who received meals were identified by Southeastern's Community Partners in Education partner schools as being in need during this time of Thanksgiving.
Since the meal drive began in 2010, Southeastern has provided Thanksgiving meals to 54 local families, impacting nearly 250 people. "Year after year, our employees give generously to provide Thanksgiving meals to families who would otherwise go without," says Courtney Gooding, Marketing Manager at Southeastern. "Our local schools do so much to support these families and children, the least we can do is give them a warm meal to enjoy during the holidays."
Southeastern's CPIE schools include: J.L. Lomax Elementary, Moulton Branch Elementary, W.G. Nunn Elementary, J.L. Newbern Middle, and Pine Grove Middle. The Credit Union has participated in the Community Partners in Education program for more than 10 years. If you or your business is interested in getting involved with the CPIE program, contact Valdosta City Schools Director of Public Relations Jennifer Steedley at 229-671-6065, or Lowndes County Schools Director of Public Relations LaVerne Rome at 229-316-1844.
