Based on feedback from riders and local businesses, effective November 23, 2015 the Valdosta Shuttle Pilot Program will extend its hours of operation, and change the location of one of the stops. The pilot program is still slated to end on June 30, 2016. Since the Shuttles’ inception on October 15, 2015 an average of 6 individuals have used the service daily, with more than 400 persons registered for the service. The most popular stops for the service are: Goodwill, SGMC Library, and downtown Valdosta.

One of the shuttle stops will be moved from near the Second Harvest Food Bank Headquarters on Harbin Circle to the right-of-way near Gil Harbin and James P. Rodgers Dr. A second stop will be added along Gil Harbin between FedEx and Dillard’s Distribution Centers. These improvements will help meet the needs of potential riders working in this large employment center.

The shuttle will begin the route at 7:00 a.m. near the Mildred M Hunter Community Center and will follow the same loop every hour ending back near the Mildred M Hunter Community Center until 6:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. On Saturdays, the shuttle will begin the route at 8:00 a.m. near the Mildred M Hunter Community Center and will follow the same loop every hour ending back near the Mildred M Hunter Community Center until 5:00 p.m. The shuttle is free to clients who fill out the mandatory registration form completely. The Georgia Department of Human Services and the Southern Georgia Regional Commission will work to ensure that the program provides accurate data that might be used in identifying the need for a shuttle or other type of urban transportation system in Valdosta.
