The Valdosta State University Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration and the Georgia Bankers Association hosted the 2015 South Georgia Community Bank Symposium on Sept. 17. The event focused on the many challenging issues facing the banking industry today. Topics covered by leading speakers included the economic outlook for 2015-2016; assessing risk accurately, focusing resources smartly, and increasing a financial institution’s probability of success; the Georgia Bankers Association’s efforts to be an advocate for Georgia banks with state and national regulators and legislators; current legal issues of interest in South Georgia; and what the top-performing banks do to stay on top.
