Sept. 15: CVDA Meets. Members of the Central Valdosta Development Authority will meet Tuesday, at 5 p.m., in the Valdosta City Hall Annex Multi-Purpose Room. The CVDA manages the process of enhancing downtown's position as the governmental, cultural, and economic center of the Greater Lowndes County area by involving businesses, property owners, government, churches and the entire community. Sept. 16: Land Bank Authority Meets. The Valdosta-Lowndes County Land Bank Authority will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 9 a.m., in the City Hall Annex Multi-Purpose Room, located at 300 N. Lee Street. The purpose of the LBA is to foster the public purpose of returning property which is in a non-revenue generating, non-tax producing status to effective utilization status in order to provide housing, new industry and jobs for citizens. Sept. 17: Georgia Constitution Day. How well do you know your Georgia history facts? Sept. 17: VPD Citizens Police Academy Begins. Congratulations to citizens who have been accepted into the Fall 2015 Citizens Police Academy, which begins this Thursday, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. There is still time to get into the program, as a few spaces are still open. The nine-week course was designed to provide citizens with a better understanding of the internal workings of a modern day law enforcement agency. Sept. 19: LAST Farm Days of the 2015 Season. This Saturday is the last Downtown Valdosta Farm Days event of the 2015 season. Make plans to attend this popular downtown event on Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to Noon, around the Historic Lowndes County Courthouse square, and support our local economy.
