Sept 8: Mayor's Council for Persons with Disabilities Meets. The Valdosta Mayor's Council for Persons with Disabilities will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 1 p.m., at Goodwill Industries, located at 1000-E North St. Augustine Road. The meeting is open to individuals who have an interest in making Valdosta a "City Without Limits" for community members with disabilities. For more information, call (229) 316-1216.

Sept. 8: HPC Meets. The Historic Preservation Commission will hold its regularly scheduled meeting today at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Annex Multi-Purpose Room, located at 300 N. Lee Street. The HPC is responsible for ensuring any new development or redevelopment within the Local Historic District is consistent with the locally adopted design guidelines. Sept. 8: Valdosta City Council Meets for Work Session. The Mayor and City Council will meet for a work session on Tuesday, beginning at 5:30 p.m., which allows council members to spend an adequate amount of time discussing agenda items. The meeting is open to the general public and is held in the second floor Council Chambers of City Hall, at 216 E. Central Avenue.

Sept. 10: Valdosta City Council Meets. The Mayor and City Council will meet this Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers. The meeting is open to the general public and includes an Employee of the Month Award presentation and a special presentation of the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association, among other city business. Sept. 11: Valdosta Commemorates the 14th Anniversary of 9-11. The City of Valdosta will host a 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony on Friday, Sept. 11, at 8:45 a.m. at Valdosta Fire Station #1, located at 106 S. Oak Street. Valdosta Fire Chief Freddie Broome will preside over the ceremony in remembrance of those who lost their lives that day 14 years ago and in honor of the continued efforts of public safety professionals.
