Friday, August 7th, 2015
The board of directors for the Technical College System of Georgia enjoyed an opportunity to become acquainted with the city of Valdosta Aug. 5 - 6 during its monthly meeting. Board committees met Aug. 5 at the Hilton Garden Inn and the general board meeting took place the morning of Aug. 6 at the Valdosta campus of Wiregrass Technical College.
“Since we are a statewide system, it’s important to visit different regions of our state so that our board members have a chance to see the wide variety of programs and activities our colleges offer,” said TCSG Commissioner Gretchen Corbin. “We’re looking forward to our tour of the campus, meeting the students, and learning more about Wiregrass Tech’s current initiatives, such as the Allied Health and Public Safety building under construction in Coffee County.”
“We couldn’t be more excited to showcase our college to the TCSG board,” said Dr. Tina Anderson, president of Wiregrass Technical College. “We’re growing quickly, and look forward to sharing with the board members successes such as dual enrollment, military outreach, literacy outreach and student achievement.”
The TCSG board meets 10 times a year, generally at the system office headquarters in Atlanta. During the gathering in Valdosta, the board also toured the Steeda Autosports facility and met several graduates of Wiregrass Technical College who work for Steeda.
