Staff Report From Valdosta CEO

The Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber Ambassadors would like to congratulate Mike Hill Real Estate on over 39 years of business in the Valdosta area.

“I got my real estate license in 1976,” says Mike Hill. “I opened Mike Hill Real Estate with two agents and a receptionist three years later and by the late 1980’s found myself managing 18 agents and about 500 rental properties.”

“I’d become an administrator,” he said. “I missed the front line personal contact with clients, with buyers and sellers and investors and property owners, so I dropped back in the late 1980’s to just a few agents and about 200 managed properties.”

In 2004, Mike Hill Real Estate moved into a farmhouse built in 1913 at 3365 Country Club Road. “It’s haunted,” Hill said. “The previous owner told me that when we moved here and I think he was right.”

Real estate services offered include home buyer’s representation, seller’s representation, commercial and investment property sales, investment analysis and property management. “I’ve been doing this for almost 40 years,” said Hill, “but I tell people I’ve only had 35 years’ experience, since I didn’t know what the heck I was doing for the first few years.”

“Experience is the best teacher for an increasingly complicated business,” Hill said, “and I’m always happy to discuss it with folks, whether they’ll ever be clients or not.”

Employees include Ginsie Degange and Cathy Duval with over 32 years’ experience between them in property management and real estate, most of it with Mike Gill Real Estate. “I think having long-term employees says something about a business, I’m very grateful to them and for them.”  Also on staff is Ed Doherty, Realtor.
“I’m also grateful to my clients, some of the management clients have been with me for over 20 years,” Hill said.
