Det. Crews Recognized as Georgia All-Star Fire Professional

Sgt. Chris Crews, a detective in the Investigative Bureau of the Valdosta Police Department, was named as a Georgia All-Star Fire Professional in an Insurance Market Intelligence publication for his criminal investigative work on arsons.
Sgt. Crews is one of only ten individuals in the state to make the list. In addition to his supervisory role in the VPD Burglary Unit, Sgt. Crews is one of two Arson Investigators at the department who works in conjunction with the Arson Unit at the Valdosta Fire Department to investigate and solve local arson cases. Sgt. Crews has been with the VPD for 15 years with the department, six of those years as an Arson Investigator.

“Sgt. Crews in an exceptional Arson Investigator,” stated Valdosta Chief of Police Brian Childress. “Sgt. Crews has also been instrumental in leading the Burglary Unit to improve solvability rates for residential and commercial burglaries, exceeding the national average for burglary solvability rates.”
