Emily Davenport, Assistant Director of the City of Valdosta’s Engineering Department, will co-present “Stormwater for Small Cities/Rural Communities–One Community’s Story” at the 2015 American Public Works Association (APWA) Congress in Phoenix, Arizona, on August 30. Davenport and Oakwood, Georgia City Manager Stan Brown will address the challenges and successes of implementing a stormwater management program.
 
Davenport’s experience with implementing and managing a municipal stormwater program is also documented in an article that appears in the August 2015 issue of the APWA Reporter.
 
Davenport joined the City of Valdosta in June 2007 as its Stormwater Superintendent, where she was responsible for planning and directing all activities of the city’s Stormwater Operation and Maintenance Program and the newly created utility. In 2008, the city was recognized by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals as the Stormwater Management Program of the Year for a Phase II Community. In 2011, Davenport was promoted to Stormwater Manager in the Engineering Department, where she streamlined the city’s entire stormwater program by bringing the Capital Improvement Program and Operation and Maintenance under one department.  She currently serves as the Assistant Director and assists in the daily activities of the Engineering Department.
