28 Wiregrass Programs Eligible for Workforce Development Grant

The State of Georgia has continued to support the Strategic Industries Workforce Development Grant which is helping many return to college with extra financial help.  Students who are receiving the HOPE grant may also be eligible for this additional financial assistance from the SIWDG.  The following programs at Wiregrass Tech are eligible for this assistance: Commercial Truck Driving, Advanced Child Development Specialist Certificate,  Child Development Specialist, Early Childhood Care and Education Diploma, Early Childhood Program Administration, Computed Tomography Specialist Certificate, Health Information Coding Diploma, Medical Language Specialist Certificate, Nurse Aide Certificate, Pharmacy Technology Diploma, Phlebotomy Technician Certificate, Surgical Technology Diploma, Animation and Game Design Specialist, Computer Programming Diploma, Design and Media Production Technology Diploma, Design and Media Production Technology Certificate, Game Development Diploma, Game Development Specialist Certificate, Information Security Specialist Certificate, Information Security Specialist Diploma, Internet Security Specialist Diploma, Internet Specialist - Web Site Design Diploma, Networking Specialist Diploma, PC Repair and Network Technician Certificate, Practical Nursing Diploma, Gas Metal Arc Welder Certificate, Advanced Shielded Metal Arc Welder Certificate, Gas Tungsten Arc Welder Certificate, and Welding and Joining Technology Diploma.

To qualify, a student must be fully admitted to Wiregrass, enrolled in one of the above programs, and receiving the HOPE Grant for the same term.  The amount of the SIWDG award is a fixed amount for each term of enrollment.  The amount of the award can be $125 per term up to $500, depending on the amount of enrolled hours the students is taking. Students in the Commercial Truck Driving program and enrolled for 9 or more hours could be eligible for a one-time award of $1,000.  This is a one-term award since the program is one semester.
