July 29: Deadline to Apply for Vacant Board Positions. The city has 10 board vacancies for citizens who want to get more involved in the local government and their community. Each person applying must review the Membership Requirements and Code of Ethics Booklet, complete a General Board Application and sign a Code of Ethics form. July 30: 2040 Transportation Vision Plan Public Meeting. Citizens are encouraged to provide feedback on the 2040 Transportation Vision Plan by attending the last of three scheduled public meetings which address the future transportation needs of our community. July 30:VFD & VPD Host 2ND Annual Guns & Hoses Blood Drive. The goal of Valdosta Fire and Police Departments is to exceed 100 pints of blood donated at the Guns & Hoses Blood Drive on Thursday, July 30. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Valdosta City Hall Annex Multi-Purpose Room, located at 300 N. Lee Street. The friendly interdepartmental competition seeks to aid the American Red Cross in their life-saving efforts. Registration is encouraged but not required. Click here for more information. 

July 31: Deadline to Apply for Citizens Fire Academy. Friday, July 31 is the deadline to apply for the Valdosta Fire Department (VFD) 2nd Annual Citizens Fire Academy, which will educate citizens about the services provided by the VFD, increase fire and life-safety awareness, and establish a community partnership.
