Sew Inspiring: Pinwheels Quilting & Needlework Opens in Valdosta
Staff Report From Valdosta CEO

Whether you’re an experienced quilter looking for premium quality fabric, or a newbie trying to figure out some basic stitches, Valdosta’s new Pinwheels Quilting & Needlework should be on your list. The store, located at 357 Northside Drive in Valdosta, is the result of a dynamic mother-daughter duo, Ginger and Tina Valenti. Chamber Ambassadors joined Ginger and Tina for the store’s official ribbon cutting Tuesday.
Despite being lifelong sewer and crafter, Ginger Valenti’s love of quilting didn’t fully blossom until she took a quilting class shortly after retirement. Wanting to share her love of the art with others, she teamed up with her daughter, Tina, to open Pinwheels Quilting & Needlework. The result of their labor of love is stunning.
“It just goes to show that you can take up a hobby at any age and it can change your life,” Ginger Valenti said. “We’re having fun with it. This store has been an absolute joy.”
The store is tucked into the Stonecrest Village plaza at 357 Northside Drive and features everything from fabric and quilting supplies to books and sewing notions. The back room is reserved for classes, offered on a regular basis. Valenti hopes that Pinwheels will serve as a friendly gathering place for fellow crafters as well as a place of inspiration. After all, one class just might inspire a lifelong hobby.
From sewing a basic pillow to stitching a complex quilt, Pinwheels offers a class for just about anyone. Visit their website, www.PinwheelsQuilting.com for a complete class schedule, or call the store for more information at 229-232-4531.
