The City of Valdosta welcomes Marcus McConico as the new Media Coordinator for Metro Valdosta 17—the city’s government access channel on Mediacom. In coordination with the city’s Public Information Office, McConico will be responsible for the broadcast of quality and timely media productions and for all technical operations of the city’s television channel.
McConico’s six years of experience as a Digital Media Program Coordinator for Wiregrass Georgia Technical College, where he taught and advised film students, coupled with over five years of experience in television news in the Valdosta market, have provided him with the knowledge and skills required to coordinate the functions of the city’s government access channel. McConico possesses a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Media from Valdosta State University and a Master of Science Degree in Information Technology from Aspen University. In his free time, McConico enjoys everything movie/television-related and is an avid Blazer fan.
“I welcome Marcus to the city team and am confident that he will continue our efforts to expand community awareness of local government through his important role in the Metro Valdosta 17 office,” said City Manager Larry Hanson.
Since it was established in 2003, Metro Valdosta 17 has provided 24/7 news and information about city government and the services it provides to citizens, supplementing other information vehicles—website, publications, social media, programs and events, etc.—offered by the city’s Public Information Division.
