Public Transportation Meeting by LCDP Tonight
Press release from the issuing company
Monday, May 4th, 2015
Property taxes, hotel taxes, business licenses, business contributions? How should public transportation be funded?
The audience spent half of the March meeting on "Supporting Local Business” talking with the Chamber, the Development Authority, and a local business leader about the need for public transportation to get to work. At the April meeting on "City Matters", two Valdosta City Council members and the audience came up with interesting new potential funding methods for a bus system. So this month, the Lowndes County Democratic Party meeting is about “Transportation.” If you have any questions or concerns about transportation in Valdosta or Lowndes County, you do not want to miss this meeting.
When: 6 PM this Monday May 4th 2015.
Where: At the Lowndes County Board of Elections office, 2808 North Oak Street.
Guest Speakers:
- John Gayle, Mayor, Valdosta
- Someone from the Lowndes County Commission
- Jim Galloway, Executive Director, Valdosta-Lowndes County Airport Authority
- Corey Hull, Transportation Planner, Valdosta-Lowndes MPO
- Also present will be J.D. Rice, who is running for Mayor, and probably other elected officials and candidates.
A century ago, Valdosta was the smallest city to have a street railcar system.
