The City of Valdosta Continues Smoke Testing
Press release from the issuing company
Wednesday, May 13th, 2015
The City of Valdosta Utilities Department will continue smoke testing of the sewer collection system on Friday, May 15, beginning at 9 a.m., in the following locations: Churchill Drive, Roosevelt Drive, North Toombs Street, N. Patterson Street, Jennifer Circle and Clark Circle.
The project is expected to be completed the same day, weather permitting. If the work is postponed due to rain, the project will resume and be completed the next business day after the conclusion of the inclement weather.
Traffic control devices will be in place to alert motorists approaching the work area. As always, motorists are urged to drive with caution and adhere to the traffic warning signs for their safety and the safety of others.
Smoke testing will take place in numerous sections of the city over the next two years to help the city identify and eliminate sources within the sewer collection system that cause storm water inflow and infiltration. To date, approximately 120 miles of the city’s 300 miles of lines have been evaluated through smoke testing and CCTV work, which has allowed for necessary repairs to be made.
