The new Valdosta Gateway on N. Valdosta Road, a project initiated by Mayor John Gayle and a FY 2015 Mayor/City Council Goal, is already serving its purpose of welcoming citizens and guests to the city limits.  The beautiful landscape—which includes 72 Encore Azaleas, 6 Standard Natchez Crape Myrtles,  8 Saucer Magnolias, 10 Nellie Stevens Hollies, 6 Myrtle Dahoon Hollies, and 120 Big Blue Liriope—was funded by a $19,490 GATEway Grant from the Georgia Department of Transportation.  The City of Valdosta Engineering Department staff managed and constructed the project.

An official ribbon cutting of the attractive gateway is scheduled for National Arbor Day, on April 24.
