Press release from the issuing company

Thursday, April 30th, 2015

Obstacle course-style challenges have gained popularity over the last few years, and last year Colonel Chad Franks, the 23rd Wing Commander at Moody Air Force Base, introduced the idea of this type of event for Moody’s Airmen. With over 300 participants in 2014, Moody decided to host their version of the rugged and Spartan like race again this year. On Saturday, May 2nd, 7 am to 3 pm, the second annual Moody Mudder 5K and Family Fun Course will take place at Possum Creek in Ray City, GA. The event is open to public, and features approximately 12 obstacle courses with challenging features such as a barbed wire low crawl, a fire pit, an 8’ vertical wall and log crossing.

The 5K is for participants ages 13 and older, while the family fun course caters to children 12 and under. This year’s theme is Super Heroes, and participants are invited to test their strength while dressed in their favorite hero or villain costumes. Participants can register as an individual or a team; however, teams are highly encouraged because it helps build comradery. There are only two hundred slots for competitive (timed) runners; noncompetitive heats will not be timed. There will be awards for the best time (male, female, and team) and best costume (individual and team). Register at  www.moodymudder.eventbrite.com. Online registration ends Friday, April 24; however, participants may sign-up the day of the event. If you are interested in volunteering please email [email protected].

5K Challenge Course: $40 includes a t-shirt (preregistration only) and a finishers medal

Family Fun Course: $5 for ages 12 and under
