Young Ran Song was recently recognized by the Korean Consulate. Song is a Foreign Language Instructor at Highland Christian Academy and a GaTAPP candidate through Wiregrass Georgia Technical College. The Korean Consulate visited Highland Christian Academy where they recognized her for being committed to the mission of teaching the Korean language and exhibiting efforts toward contributing to the globalization of the Korean language and developing Korean education in America. Song was one of four teachers nationally recognized for this honor.
GaTAPP is an alternative certification program offered for individuals who desire to become educators and already have an existing degree in a field other than education. The program is not intended to replace traditional college teaching programs, but is an alternative pathway to obtain teacher certification for those who hold a Bachelor’s degree, or higher, but have not completed an educator preparation course of study. Once Song has completed the program, she will be the first certified teacher in Korean in the State of Georgia. Wiregrass is a provider of this program for the Technical College System of Georgia.
